Tiger’s Eye long mala with Tiger Kamagong markers

This Tiger’s eye long mala, using 6mm beads,  has a total of 108 beads including the lovely Tiger Kamagong marker beads.  The head bead is not counted in the 108 beads.  The contrasting marker beads are placed every 27th bead and highlighted with small brass discs.

The mala is strung on flexible wire and finished with a toning brown tassel. The tassel is made from 100% cotton.

TIGER’S EYE (or tigereye)  is a quartz with rich shades of honey, yellow and brown with a very silky lustre, giving the beads a wonderful polish. These beads are a lovely quality with a fine polish.

TIGER KAMAGONG wood, also called Tiger Ebony, is from the Kamagong “Mabolo” fruit tree found only in the Philippines. Some beads are very dark, others come with rich, warm patterning.  The wood is dense and hard and belongs to the ebony family. It is an endangered tree species and protected by Philippine law – these beads comply with this law and are from a reputable supplier.

Mala and Bead size

The Tiger’s eye beads are 6mm in size, with 8mm beads for the Tiger Kamagong. The mala measures round over the 108 beads approximately 71cm (28 inches). Laid flat and measured from top to toe, with the tassel and head beads, it is around 39cm (15.5 inches).
